It’s National Grow Your Business Day!

by Sue Leipzig on December 29, 2013

Just kidding!! I totally made that up, and besides that, guess what? EVERY day should be Grow Your Business Day! Every. Single. Day. As in 24 x 7. How do you do that when you obviously can’t be on every day? The simple answer is: You have a website that works for you.

Some business websites do more harm than good. We’ve all seen them, you land there and immediately start looking for the nearest exit. This first impression is just as important as not showing up to a job interview with spinach in your teeth. Your website doesn’t need to be able to take orders for it to work for your business. But it absolutely MUST:

  • Answer FAQs without too much clicking, i.e. hours of operation, main contact person together with a name and an email.
  • Not embarrass you by being outdated, having grainy, blurry or stretched out photos, having dumb fonts, or just a generally unprofessional vibe.
  • Have a current service / price list if applicable
  • Be polished, inviting, and professional. Misspellings, out of the box themes, and poor design can diminish the professionalism of the site in a hurry.
  • Reflect the tone, style, and goals of the business. This will mean different things to different businesses. Obviously a night club website will have a different tone than an accounting firm, although there’s no reason both can’t be fun.

If you don’t have a business website, let’s get you started right away. If you have one but it’s sending the wrong message, let’s take a look and get it fixed. A bad website can cost you more than a good one. Call today.
